Sri Lanka Esports backed by Dialog, Set to Make Historic Debut at 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

Sri Lanka Esports athletes will proudly represent the nation at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 taking place in Bahrain this October, where Esports will be featured as a medal event for the very first time. This historic inclusion marks a significant milestone for Esports, bringing it alongside traditional sports at one of Asia’s largest multi-sport events.

Sri Lanka will be represented in multiple titles including Rocket League Girls, eFootball Boys, and Street Fighter Boys. The team consists of W.L.A. Sayuni Sadushika competing in Rocket League Girls and M.A. Haiyan Aqwam competing in both eFootball Boys and Street Fighter Boys. Their selection follows the official selection qualifiers held by the Sri Lanka Esports Association earlier this year.

The recognition of Esports as a medal sport at the Asian Youth Games reinforces its growing legitimacy and the opportunities it creates for youth. As the official governing body for Esports in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Esports Association continues to pave the way for young athletes to compete internationally. Esports is a registered sport under the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Sri Lanka, highlighting its development as an accessible, inclusive, and professional discipline that equips youth with teamwork, critical thinking, and digital skills for the future.

“This opens up entirely new avenues for the next generation of Esports athletes in Sri Lanka, showing them that competitive gaming is not just a hobby but a platform where they can wear the national jersey, compete on an international stage and gain recognition for their talent. It is a moment of pride and opportunity for our youth,” said Raveen Wijayatilake, President of the Sri Lanka Esports Association.

For over a decade, Dialog Axiata has been the driving force behind the rise of Esports in Sri Lanka, championing its growth from grassroots tournaments to the international stage. As the long-standing partner powering Esports in the country, Dialog is also the proud sponsor of the National Cricket, Volleyball, Netball and Esports teams. Dialog is also the primary sponsor of the Sri Lanka Golf Open and Paralympic sports by powering the National Para Games, and the Sri Lankan contingent to the World Paralympic Games. Further, in line with its commitment towards powering the champions of tomorrow, the company continues to power the National Junior and Senior Netball tourneys and School Rugby.

Gamer.LK, Sri Lanka’s leading Esports and digital entertainment organisation, has been at the forefront of developing the local Esports ecosystem by organising tournaments, creating platforms for players, and driving the growth of the community.
