The CCTV cameras in the outpatient department (OPD) of the Colombo National Hospital have been out of service for nearly one and a half months.
Dr. Pradeep Ratnasekera, Director of the OPD, confirmed during an inquiry that the camera system’s software has become inactive. The CCTV system installed in this building — constructed by Chinese nationals — has also been maintained by China. The hospital administration has already informed a relevant Chinese expert team regarding the issue.
According to Dr. Ratnasekera, discussions are currently underway on how to carry out the necessary maintenance of the camera system. He further stated that the malfunctioning cameras are expected to be restored in the near future.
