In a transformative step toward reshaping Sri Lanka’s mobility landscape, Evolution Auto Pvt Ltd, born from a joint venture between the Atman Group and Sino Lanka Private Limited, is spearheading the country’s transition to sustainable transportation with the launch of Mahindra electric three-wheelers. This move goes beyond the introduction of new vehicles; it represents a bold vision for the future, where economic opportunity, environmental responsibility, and technological innovation converge. At the heart of this initiative is the campaign “Super Driver Wenna,” a call to action for a new generation of drivers, those who are ready to embrace smarter, greener, and more profitable mobility solutions.

Manufactured by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, these electric three-wheelers are designed to serve a range of needs in both passenger and cargo transport. The Mahindra Treo offers a true range of 110 kilometers with a 7.4 kWh battery, while the Treo Plus, engineered for longer routes, extends this range to 150 kilometers with a 10.24 kWh battery. For businesses and logistics operators, the Treo Zor and Treo Zor DV present ideal cargo solutions, with impressive battery capacities and operational reliability. These vehicles deliver a top speed of 55 km/h (50 km/h for Zor DV) and come with a 3-year or 80,000 km vehicle and motor warranty, along with an extended 5-year battery warranty, offering unmatched peace of mind to owners and operators alike.

The impact of these electric vehicles stretches far beyond individual drivers. For last-mile delivery companies, ride-share services, and urban transport operators, Mahindra’s electric three-wheelers present a smarter business model, one that dramatically lowers operating costs while enhancing service efficiency. By removing the need for petrol or diesel and reducing mechanical maintenance to a minimum, businesses can unlock significant monthly savings. On average, drivers can expect to save approximately Rs. 34,980 per month, leading to annual savings of over Rs. 419,000, and more than Rs. 2 million over five years. These numbers are not just compelling, they are transformative for livelihoods.

“This is more than just introducing a new product, it’s a national movement,” said Mr. Zahran Ziyawudeen, Chief Operating Officer of Evolution Auto. “We’re introducing vehicles that are practical, powerful, and designed with the Sri Lankan driver in mind. Our goal is to give every driver the tools to improve their income while contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable Sri Lanka.”

Reinforcing the broader mission, Mr. Virann De Zoyza, Group Chief Executive Officer of Evolution Auto, added, “Electric mobility is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. At Evolution Auto, we believe in building a future where transport is affordable, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible. With over 1.3 million three-wheelers on the road, the opportunity to transform how Sri Lanka moves is massive and we are proud to lead that change.”

Today, the vast majority of the three-wheelers in Sri Lanka are powered by fossil fuels. Evolution Auto’s vision is to progressively replace these with electric alternatives, contributing meaningfully to national sustainability goals. This transition will not only reduce the country’s carbon footprint but also strengthen energy independence and improve urban air quality, an essential step for public health and environmental resilience.

Evolution Auto Pvt Ltd is Sri Lanka’s leading automotive company with the largest portfolio of globally renowned electric vehicle brands, spanning two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Committed to driving the nation’s transition to sustainable mobility, Evolution Auto partners with world-class manufacturers to deliver innovative, efficient, and eco-friendly transport solutions tailored for the Sri Lankan market.
