Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today (28) at around 9:15 a.m., according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
His appearance was to provide a statement regarding a corruption allegation allegedly made by MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, who is currently in remand custody. The allegation pertains to Dassanayake’s tenure as the Chief Minister of the Uva Provincial Council.
Although Wickremesinghe had initially been scheduled to appear before the Bribery Commission on April 17 in connection with the incident, he was subsequently informed to present himself today, following notice that he would be unable to attend on the earlier date.
