The Department of Meteorology has issued its latest weather update, forecasting showers or nighttime thundershowers in many parts of the island today (April 15).
Thundershowers are expected to develop specifically in the Galle, Matara, and Puttalam districts.
The Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Uva provinces are also expected to experience significant rainfall. In some areas, heavy showers exceeding 75mm are likely.
The public is urged to take appropriate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with these thunderstorms.
Additionally, in the Polonnaruwa district, as well as certain areas within the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, morning showers may also occur.
