An air of celebration filled the Maldives Cultural Centre in Colombo on Sunday, April 6, as the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye, in collaboration with the Daily Mirror, hosted a vibrant awards ceremony for the Essay and Art Competitions held under the heartwarming theme, “My Memorable Ramadan Experience.”
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Semih Lütfü Turgut, who warmly congratulated the talented winners, recognizing their heartfelt reflections and creative expressions of the holy month.
Adding further prestige to the occasion, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. Rizvi Salih, High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Major General (R) Faheem Ul Aziz, and High Commissioner of the Maldives Masood Imad joined in honoring the young achievers. They were accompanied by First Secretary Ms. Imren Kaygısız, Deputy Chief of Mission Ms. Merve Gözde Otlu, and distinguished guests from Türkiye, including Dr. Abdulcelil Alpkiray from the Diyanet Presidency and Ahmet Gunduz from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Türkiye. Together, they proudly presented certificates to the budding writers and artists.
The ceremony also welcomed the High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Andalib Elias; former Minister A.H.M. Fowzie; representatives of various Muslim organizations, embassy officials, school principals, and proud parents, all of whom gathered to celebrate the creativity and spirit of youth inspired by the sacred month of Ramadan.
