President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating organized criminal activities and the drug menace by providing the necessary facilities and enacting new legislation.
The President made these remarks today (18) during a discussion with the Western Provincial Police Chiefs at the Presidential Secretariat. He emphasized that upholding the rule of law is a fundamental responsibility of the Police Department and a crucial step toward building a just and orderly society in Sri Lanka.
President Dissanayake further stated that without ensuring the rule of law, it would be impossible to create a good society in the country.
The discussion was attended by Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, and a delegation of Western Provincial Police Chiefs.
