A 20-year-old woman from Jaffna was shot and killed inside a residence in Markham, Canada, on the 9th of this month.
The victim has been identified as Ragudas Nilakshi, the granddaughter of former Jaffna Mayor Alfred Doreappa. She had moved to Canada from Kondavil, Jaffna, and had been living in the house on Castlemore Road, Markham, for the past two years.
The residence had been targeted twice before in previous shootings. In this latest incident, Nilakshi tragically lost her life, while another individual sustained injuries. The attackers also shot and killed a guard dog at the scene.
Canadian police have reported that four suspects were captured on CCTV fleeing the area in a modern cab after the shooting.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities in Canada continue their investigation into the case.
