The Police Headquarters has reportedly sent a letter to the Presidential Secretariat requesting the revocation of all privileges currently granted to former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon. These privileges include his official residence, official vehicle, salary, and an eight-member security detail.
Tennakoon has been ordered to be arrested and presented before the court in connection with a shooting incident at a hotel in Weligama. However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has so far been unable to locate him.
The Matara Magistrate’s Court issued the order for his arrest and production before the court on February 28.
