The Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to two former Sri Lankan military intelligence officers arrested in connection with the abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyahr.
The suspects were released on two surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each.
Keith Noyahr, who was working as a newspaper editor at the time, was kidnapped and brutally assaulted in May 2008. Following investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), two suspects were arrested yesterday (01) by CID officers.
The arrested individuals are retired soldiers from the Army Intelligence Division, aged 42 and 46, residing in Nawagaththegama and Ulukkulama.
Previously, several other suspects, including military personnel, had been arrested in connection with the case.
