Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath engaged in discussions on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Summit in Oman.

Sharing a photograph from the meeting on his X account, Minister Jaishankar highlighted the review of fruitful interactions and the extensive cooperation between the two nations. He further reiterated India’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s economic recovery and progress.

In addition, Minister Jaishankar also met former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe during the summit. Sharing another image from their interaction, he described the meeting with Wickremesinghe as “a pleasure.”

However, political analysts have raised concerns over the nature of these discussions, speculating whether they were aimed at reaching a potential agreement between the Sri Lankan government and former President Wickremesinghe during the conference.
