The Army Headquarters has issued a directive requiring all Army personnel below the rank of Major to hand over their passports to their respective regiments.
Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Waruna Gamage stated that this measure has been implemented as part of an administrative procedure.
However, he assured that soldiers can retrieve their passports for personal use by notifying the relevant departments.
