The President has reached an agreement with the Customs Department and other relevant institutions to operate around the clock to address the container congestion at the Colombo Port.
Minister Bimal Ratnayake announced that the issue would be resolved within the next ten days.
He further revealed that thirty ships had turned away from the port over the past two weeks due to the congestion.
The Minister also emphasized that this problem could have been avoided if the necessary steps had been taken four to five years ago.
These remarks were made by the Minister while addressing the media outside the Presidential Secretariat.
