A school student who hacked the website of the Sri Lanka Examination Department. He stole the advanced level result files of all the students across the country and was arrested by the criminal investigating department today (08).

This student has illegally obtained the results of all A-level students whose results released this year and has prepared a separate web access to check the result documents by entering their names.

He was arrested during the investigation conducted by the officers of the Social Media Network Unit of the Computer Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department. The police acted on a complaint received in this regard.

He is a student studying A-Level Information and Communication Technology at a popular boys’ school in Galle.

This student has hacked the website of the examination department and obtained the results of the two hundred and seventy two thousand six hundred and eighty two results that were released this year.

This student was identified and arrested as a result of a lengthy investigation. A complaint from the Commissioner General of Examinations Mr. L. M. D. Dharmasena to the Criminal Investigation Department on the 6th.

It is possible to check the exam results, including A-level, through the website of the examination department. This is done by entering the index number of the candidates or the national identity card number of the candidates.

Apart from that, confidentiality has been protected to the maximum by never providing examination results by name checking.

However, since this student created a website, it is possible to check by entering the name of the candidate.

The name of the candidate who appeared for the exam is completely unknown, when the known part of the name is entered, the names of all the candidates who appeared for the exam with such names are displayed and facilities are provided here to check the result document by selecting the desired name among those names.

The Criminal Investigation Department states that this student’s parents are teachers and he has two elder sisters.

One of the sisters is studying in university and the other sister is studying in high school.

The computer crime investigation division has discovered that this student is involved in a telegram group consisting of school students studying technology and sharing knowledge about how to hack websites and steal data, and there are about 5000 students sharing knowledge.

This student has publicized the new web access that was created using the data from the examination department’s website. He shared it among various social media network groups, including WhatsApp, of the students who were facing the A-level examination this year. It is also said that a large number of people have viewed the exam results through this.

During the interrogation of the arrested student, he said that on one occasion before this, the website of the examination department was hacked and a result document was published in this way through a separate web access.
