The Fort Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued a directive concerning a protest organized by the Inter-University Students’ Federation scheduled for today (08). The court order was addressed to the convener of the federation, Madushan Chandrajith, along with Venerable Medirigiriye Esepada Dhamma Thero, Rashmika Chamod Ranasinghe, Udara Ranasinghe, and Tharushan Piyumantha Herath.

This order was issued under Section 106 (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code following a review of submissions made by the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Fort Police Station. The court considered these submissions before delivering its ruling aimed at regulating the protest’s impact on public order.

As per the court’s directive, the named individuals are prohibited from obstructing specific areas within the Fort Police Division between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. This includes the stretch from Ceramic Junction to the NSA Roundabout and the Galle Road from the NSA Roundabout to Baladaksha Mawatha.

Additionally, the protestors have been instructed to avoid entering the premises of key government institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, the Presidential Secretariat, the Central Bank, and the President’s House. The court order seeks to prevent disruptions in these areas during the specified time.
