A significant discussion was held today (06) at the Presidential Secretariat between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Attorney General, and senior officers of the Attorney General’s Department.
During the meeting, the President underscored the necessity for all institutions involved in law enforcement to work in unison to ensure the effective administration of justice.
President Dissanayake highlighted the critical role of the Attorney General’s Department in strengthening public trust in the judicial system. He emphasized the need to change public perceptions regarding political influence on legal processes, reinforcing the importance of maintaining and rebuilding public confidence.
The President assured that the government is committed to meeting public expectations and will not allow those expectations to be undermined. He also pledged to restore the integrity of the justice system, addressing the disillusionment that has taken root among citizens.
The discussion was attended by Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe, and several senior officers from the Attorney General’s Department.
