In a heartwarming celebration of camaraderie and nostalgia, the alumni of Kelaniya University’s 2003/04 and 2004/05 batches gathered for their much-awaited reunion, “Kalanawarjana 2024,” on the 7th of December 2024. The event, held at the beautiful Gampaha Wet Water Resorts, attracted over 500 participants, including alumni and their families.

Marking 15 years since their graduation, this reunion was not just a trip down memory lane but also an occasion to forge new connections and celebrate their shared journey. The lush surroundings of the resort, coupled with the joyful energy of attendees, created the perfect setting for this momentous event.

The gathering began with a warm welcome, as old friends greeted one another with hugs, laughter, and stories of years gone by. Many participants reminisced about their days at Kelaniya University, sharing fond memories of lecture halls, group projects, late-night study sessions, and extracurricular activities that had shaped their formative years.

One of the key highlights of the day was the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where the alumni discussed the future direction and objectives of their batch community. The meeting culminated in the election of new office bearers, tasked with leading the group for the next two years. This step was aimed at fostering the progressive growth of the alumni network, enhancing its support system, and creating more opportunities for members to connect and collaborate.

The event also featured an array of activities for participants and their families, including games and team-building exercises. The children of alumni enjoyed their time at the resort’s recreational facilities, while their parents engaged in conversations that bridged the gap of years spent apart.

Speaking at the occasion, an alumnus remarked, “It feels surreal to see so many familiar faces after all these years. Events like these remind us of our roots and the incredible bond we share as Kelaniya graduates. The laughter, the stories, and the sense of belonging make this event special.”

The organizers of “Kalanawarjana 2024” ensured that the day was a perfect blend of reflection and celebration. Attendees were treated to a sumptuous buffet featuring a variety of local delicacies, further adding to the festive spirit. The evening closed with a lively entertainment segment, where alumni showcased their talents in music and dance, turning the reunion into a vibrant celebration of friendship and unity.

The success of “Kalanawarjana 2024” is a testament to the enduring connections formed during the university years. It also highlighted the importance of alumni gatherings in nurturing relationships that transcend time and distance. The event concluded with promises to meet more frequently, ensuring that the bonds of friendship remain unbroken.

As attendees bid farewell to each other and the idyllic venue, they left with hearts full of joy, bags of memories, and a renewed sense of belonging to the Kelaniya University family.

“Kalanawarjana 2024” was not just a reunion; it was a celebration of unity, growth, and the timeless spirit of togetherness that defines the alumni of Kelaniya University.
