President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Embarks on First Official Visit to India for Bilateral and Trade Discussions

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to depart for India this afternoon (15th) on his inaugural foreign visit since assuming office. The visit, undertaken at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu, will continue until the 17th of this month.

During his stay, President Dissanayake is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on key issues of mutual importance.

In addition, the President will meet with several high-ranking Indian officials, including Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of Health J.P. Nadda, and National Security Advisor Shri Ajit Doval, along with other prominent diplomats.

A business meeting in Delhi has also been arranged, aimed at fostering investment opportunities and enhancing trade relations between the two nations.

To conclude his visit, President Dissanayake will make a symbolic trip to Bodh Gaya, a site of significant cultural and spiritual relevance.

Joining the President on this diplomatic mission are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath, as well as Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Professor Anil Jayantha Fernando.
