The Ministry of Defense has announced a policy limiting individuals to a maximum of one firearm strictly for life protection purposes.
This decision follows extensive surveys conducted on civilian firearm ownership. The Ministry stated that any request for more than one firearm will undergo a comprehensive security analysis to assess the necessity of issuing additional firearms.
The intelligence services will carry out these security evaluations. Based on the findings, the Ministry will determine whether further firearms will be granted. If the analysis reveals no credible threats to an individual’s life, the Ministry will take steps to repossess any firearms already in their possession.
Currently, the Ministry of Defense is conducting a detailed survey on firearms issued to civilians at its premises. According to the Ministry, a total of 1,550 firearms have been issued to civilians to date.
This measure underscores the Ministry’s commitment to regulating firearms responsibly and ensuring public safety.
