The National Police Commission has approved the immediate transfer of 41 senior police officers, implementing significant changes across various divisions.
Among those transferred are two Senior Superintendents of Police, four Superintendents of Police, and seven Assistant Superintendents of Police.
In a notable reshuffle, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) M.M. Dehideniya, previously the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been appointed as the Officer-in-Charge of the Nugegoda Division. His former role at the CID has been filled by SSP Ms. I.S. Muthumala, a woman police officer who previously served as the Deputy Director of the CID.
Additionally, SSP H.P.K.S. Perera has been named the Director of the Counter-Terrorism and Investigation Division, while Mr. I.U.K. Loku Hetti takes on the role of Director of the Colombo Crimes Division.
The position of Police Media Spokesperson has also undergone a change, with Mr. K.D. Manathunga now serving as the new spokesperson.
These appointments are expected to enhance operational efficiency and leadership across the police force.
