Prima Group Sri Lanka has partnered with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to sponsor the Under-15 Sri Lanka Youth League (SLYL) 2024, organised by Sri Lanka Cricket, under its National Pathway Program, with the objective of identifying promising young cricketers at an early stage.

The partnership was announced at a joint media conference held by Sri Lanka Cricket and Prima Group at the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA), Colombo.

Since 2007, Prima Group Sri Lanka has been the proud official sponsor of the Prima U15 SLYL tournament, which has served as a platform for thousands of young cricketers to represent their districts and, subsequently, their provinces. Many talented cricketers, both past and present, who represent the National Cricket Team have had their beginnings at this tournament.

Prima U15 SLYL 2024, the 50 over tournament, will be played in several venues in Colombo, commencing on the 21st of November. The venues where the games will be played are Colombo University ground, Mercantile Cricket Association ground, Thurstan College, and Royal College grounds.

Five provincial teams, namely: Colombo North, Colombo South, Dambulla, Galle, and Kandy, will compete at this tournament, where the semi-finals are scheduled for the 28th of November, with the final match taking place on the 30th of November.

Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, said: “This is an important tournament in our annual development calendar and done in order to harness the future generation of our cricketers, and we value the continuous partnership by the Prima Group.”

Mr. Sajith Gunaratne, General Manager of Ceylon Agro Industries, Prima Group Sri Lanka, said: “Prima Under-15 Sri Lanka Youth League is an incubator where future cricketing legends are forged. We are proud to be a part of their journey, providing them with a platform to showcase their abilities and ignite their passion for the game. As we commence this year’s tournament, we anticipate an exceptional display of skill, sportsmanship, and the unyielding spirit of competition. By investing in these young talents, we hope to shape the future of Sri Lankan cricket while inspiring the next generation of athletes to dream big and strive for excellence.”

“On behalf of Prima Group Sri Lanka, I extend our deepest gratitude to Sri Lanka Cricket for the opportunity to continue our valued partnership for a successful Prima Under-15 Sri Lanka Youth League tournament, which positively contributes to the development of junior cricket in Sri Lanka,” he added.

The Prima U15 SLYL 2024 tournament is one of the most awaited youth cricketing activities in the country, thus giving a platform for youngsters to perform and gain reckoning.
