The Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and Opposition Leader, Sajith Premadasa, has stated that the announcement of National List Members of Parliament (MPs) will be made in due course, adhering to the constitution and proper methodologies. He emphasized that there are no issues regarding the selection of National List MPs.
Premadasa made these remarks while responding to questions from journalists today (23).
He highlighted that despite certain setbacks, the individuals on the list are of exceptional caliber and bear significant responsibility in the effort to rebuild the nation. Premadasa described the list as comprising a mature and competent group, reaffirming his commitment to restoring the country’s stability and addressing the needs of its 2.2 million citizens.
Furthermore, the Opposition Leader noted that the public will have the opportunity to evaluate the conduct of the new MPs both within and outside Parliament. He stressed the importance of adhering to parliamentary Standing Orders to ensure proper governance.
Open to Collaboration
Premadasa also reiterated that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya operates on a clear set of policies, philosophies, and programs. He welcomed individuals who share these ideals and possess constructive ideas to join their cause. According to him, the movement is not confined to a specific party or symbol, encouraging anyone aligned with their vision to contribute to their efforts.
