The schedule for presenting the government’s policy statement at the inaugural session of the 10th Parliament has been revised.

The Department of Parliamentary Communications announced that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will now deliver the policy statement of the new government on November 21 at 11:30 a.m. Previously, it had been scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on the same day.

Under Article 33(a) of the Constitution, the President is authorized to present the government’s policy statement to Parliament at the start of a new session. Additionally, Article 33(b) empowers the President to preside over the inaugural sittings of Parliament.

This address is a key moment in which the President outlines the government’s future vision and priorities, presenting them to both Parliament and the public.

The first session of the 10th Parliament is set to commence on November 21 at 10:00 a.m.
