A shooting incident occurred last night (08) at the Nelum Kuluna premises in Maradana.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police and Police Media Spokesperson, Attorney-at-Law Nihal Thalduwa, the shooting took place during a musical concert organized by an institution to support its Welfare Association.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the gunfire was directed at an individual responsible for providing security at the event. A 29-year-old man sustained injuries and was admitted to the National Hospital for treatment.
The Police Media Spokesperson noted that the identity of the shooter remains unknown. However, he suggested that a personal dispute between the assailant and the injured individual may have been a factor in the attack.
The Maradana Police have commenced a thorough investigation into the incident.
