Dr. Shihabdeen Mohamed Shafi of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital expressed his regret over the sacrifices some officials have made in their pursuit of high positions and announced plans to pursue legal action to prevent similar injustices from occurring to others.
Dr. Shafi shared these remarks with journalists following the decision by the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, October 6, to acquit him and dismiss the case alleging that he had performed sterilizations on women without consent.
“The hardship endured by myself, my wife, and my family over the past five and a half years due to these false allegations, made for personal gain, has finally ended today. I believe this is not only a personal victory but also a triumph for everyone who has stood up for justice in Sri Lanka,” he stated.
