Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has announced that he will be leaving the country for a break following the parliamentary elections, scheduled for the 14th of this month.
When asked if his departure was related to pursuing a new position, Wickremesinghe clarified that this is not the case. He emphasized that his trip abroad is solely for rest and relaxation.
The former President also shared that he has been invited to deliver several lectures during his time away.
Wickremesinghe made these remarks while addressing a youth gathering at the Colombo Arcade.
It is important to note that Wickremesinghe had previously declared that he would not be contesting the upcoming elections and would not be attending parliament.
