The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has disclosed that a former Minister unauthorizedly signed an agreement with South Korea for the E-8 visa program without obtaining the necessary government approval.
According to the Bureau, no private employment agency in Sri Lanka is permitted to send workers to South Korea under the E-8 visa scheme or to collect any fees associated with it. The Bureau clarified that it bears no responsibility for this unapproved program and confirmed that the authorized E-9 visa scheme remains unaffected.
The Minister responsible at the time of this incident was Manusha Nanayakkara, who held the position in the previous government.
