The Supreme Court has approved the addition of the former President as a respondent in a petition challenging the appointment of Deshabandu Tennakoon as Inspector General of Police.
This decision was made during a hearing on the petition filed by the Young Journalists Association, which questions the legitimacy of the appointment.
At today’s proceedings, the court granted a request from President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris, representing the petitioners, to include the former President as a respondent.
The petition is set to be reviewed again on November 11.
