The Coconut Cultivation Board has announced a new initiative to provide coconuts at subsidized prices in response to rising market rates.
Starting tomorrow, mobile trucks will be stationed in Narahenpita town to sell coconuts at a reduced price throughout the day. The following day, a similar program will be held in Dehiwala town.
Each coconut will be offered at Rs. 110, with a limit of five coconuts per person. However, pregnant women and elderly individuals will be allowed to purchase up to ten coconuts.
The Board aims to continue this program until coconut prices in the market stabilize, making them more affordable for consumers.
