Former Minister Udaya Gammanpila reiterated yesterday that if the government fails to release the confidential reports from the investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, he will make those reports public.
Previously, on October 17, Gammanpila announced that the reports would be disclosed within seven days during a special press conference.
He indicated that these secret reports will be revealed on or around October 21.
According to Gammanpila, the confidential documents, which were held at the Presidential Secretariat, along with their attachments, came into his possession on October 10, 2024. It took four days to verify their authenticity.
When questioned by journalists on the 17th, Minister Vijitha Herath responded by likening Gammanpila’s actions to that of a child seeking attention. He remarked, “Just as children need their parents’ attention, Udaya Gammanpila also craves attention.”
Minister Herath added that if the confidential reports are made public within the seven-day timeframe, so be it.
