The Ministry of Public Security has directed the Acting Inspector General of Police to expedite investigations into seven significant cases, including the controversial 2015 bond deal and the Easter Sunday terror attack. This announcement was made by Police Media Spokesman DIG Attorney Nihal Talduwa during a press conference held this afternoon.
The cases under review include:
- The Central Bank Bond Scam (2015)
- The Easter Sunday terror attack
- The alleged kidnapping and murder of journalist DP Sivaram (April 28, 2005)
- The disappearance of Lalith Kumar and Kugan Muruganandan (December 9, 2011)
- The disappearance of Vice-Chancellor Sivasubramaniam Ravindranath (2006)
- The alleged suicide of Dinesh Shafter
- The shooting outside the Weligama W15 Hotel
