A major reshuffle is reportedly underway in the upper ranks of the Sri Lankan police force, with significant changes expected in key positions.
Sources indicate that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will soon be placed under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) P. Ampavila, a seasoned officer with a long and distinguished career within the department.
Additionally, the Ministry of Public Security is set to appoint Senior DIG Ajith Rohana to oversee the Western Province, while several officials from the Colombo Crime Division, who have faced various accusations, are expected to be removed.
It is also reported that during Tiran Alas’s tenure as Minister of Public Security, numerous police transfers were made, allegedly to facilitate the appointment of Deshbandu Tennakoon as the Inspector General of Police.
