Ahimsa Wickramatunga, daughter of the slain journalist Lasantha Wickramatunga, has called on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to take decisive action against those responsible for her father’s murder and ensure justice is served.
In a letter addressed to President Dissanayake, Ahimsa extended her congratulations on his appointment and expressed her unwavering commitment to seeking justice for her father, despite the fifteen years that have passed since his brutal killing.
Ahimsa also noted that the election of President Dissanayake has renewed her hope for justice. She referenced his campaign pledge to address not only her father’s murder but also the unresolved cases of other victims, including the disappearance of Prageeth Eknaligoda, the attacks on Keith Noyahr and Poddala Jayantha, and the abduction and disappearance of 12 school students for ransom.
Ahimsa emphasized her belief that President Dissanayake’s leadership could mark a turning point in delivering long-overdue justice for these cases.
