The counting of second preference votes in the 2024 presidential election has officially commenced. This announcement was made by Election Commission Chairman R. M. A. L. Ratnayake during a special news conference held today, September 22. For the first time in Sri Lanka’s history, the counting of second preferences in a presidential election is taking place.
