In a statement to the media, he said, “The JVP continues to show intolerance toward differing opinions. In the past, individuals who identified themselves as war heroes spoke of eliminating military leaders. A teacher who criticized the JVP in a library was assaulted. Now, students at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura have resorted to violence, attacking others with sticks and causing serious injuries. There is a real danger that this unrest could spread to other universities, which is an alarming and highly dangerous situation.
