It was said that this fight took place after the ruling party meeting chaired by the President that evening. It was reported that Member of Parliament Yadamini Gunawardena, who intervened to avoid the conflict, also fell on the body of Gunathilaka Rajapaksa and fell to the ground.

Both Pohottuwa MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Pohottuwa MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksa, who were estranged due to this fight, had joined together on the same platform for the victory of UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Even at that moment, MP Gunathilaka Rajapakse was attacked by MP Mahindananda Aluthgama and he is still walking with a crutch due to his injury.
