The Election Commission stated that nominations will be accepted in the auditorium of the Election Commission office in Rajagiri from 9.00 am to 11.00 am.
The opportunity to submit objections has been given from 9.00 am to 11.30 am.
The election commission stated that the period for accepting bail money related to this year’s presidential election ended at 12.00 noon yesterday (14) and accordingly 40 candidates have deposited bail money.
After accepting the nominations, the Election Commission is going to announce the candidates who have been selected for the presidential election after considering the objections raised.
The Election Commission mentioned that they will also issue ballot markers for the candidates who are running independently.
In the meantime, the police have taken steps to implement a special security program in the premises of the General Election Secretary’s office and the surrounding areas for accepting the nomination papers.
Acting Police Media Spokesman DIG Ruwan Gunasekara stated that around 1,000 police officers have been deployed for this security program.
