Hirunika Premachandra, who has been remanded for four years with hard labour, has now been transferred from the “work” section to the “general section”, Lankadeepa newspaper reports citing the prison media spokesperson. Sri Lanka Latest News

She has been transferred from the work section to the general section because she has forwarded a bail application to the Court of Appeal, the prison’s media spokesperson said.

The situation has arisen because a prisoner who has submitted a bail application cannot be kept in the work section.

However, Hirunika Premachandra, who is on remand, has not made any special request from the prison and is serving time in the prison in cooperation with other inmates, the prison media spokesperson has further said.
