In the year 2022, when gas queues were created in the country, there was a great controversy regarding the use of the assistance given by the World Bank to purchase gas, and the tender for gas purchase was awarded to the company that submitted the highest price bid instead of to the lowest bidder. Regarding this controversial deal, the Daily Mirror reported that the company that had awarded the tender – the highest bidder – belonged to a close friend of a powerful government minister at the time.

A company named Siam Trading had offered a low price in calling the prices for gas supply. Even though the procurement committee had given approval to award the tender to the said company, it was canceled and the gas tender was finally awarded to Oman Trading, which had offered a higher price.

It was alleged that the minister in charge of the subject at that time had intervened.

While the Siam company agreed to provide a metric ton of gas at $99, the tender was awarded to the company that agreed to provide a metric ton of gas at $118.23.

Alleging that the government has suffered a loss of 114 crore rupees due to this transaction, “Citizen Power Organization Against Corruption and Waste” and “Union of Civil Organizations” have complained to the Bribery Commission, and accordingly, the Bribery Commission has started the relevant investigations. is

The organization “Citizens’ Power Against Corruption and Waste” had also complained to the Criminal Investigation Department against various authorities regarding the immunoglobulin fraud.
