Bangladesh claimed an easy 6-wicket win against Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the three-match day-night series being played in Chattogram on Wednesday (13).

Having won the toss and opting to bat first against Bangladesh, the Lankan lions were bowled out for 255 at the end of 48.5 overs.

Chasing the target of 255 runs set by Sri Lanka, the hosts scored 257/4 in just 44.4 overs as Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto hit a century while Mushfiqur Rahim helped their total with 73* runs in 84 deliveries.

Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka started off the match with a wicket and picked up both the wickets of Bangladesh opener Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar while Pramod Madushan and Lahiru Kumara took one wicket each.

Earlier, Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando started Sri Lanka off on the right foot when they shared a 71-run partnership scoring 36 and 33 respectively. Mendis and Liyanage would then take it from there with a 66-run partnership before Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals.

Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage steadied Sri Lanka’s stance in the middle as their fifties helped the visitors post 255 against Bangladesh in the 1st ODI. Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib all took 3 wickets each as the Lankan Lions were bundled out in 48.5 overs
