Education Minister Susil Premjayantha said that all the provincial governors will be informed to remove the names of various people, including living politicians, from the schools. Sri Lanka Latest News

The minister also mentioned that all governors will meet next Friday (Feb. 16) and they will be informed of this decision.

He also said that he would advise not to use the name of any living person in schools from now on.

According to the request of school alumni associations, the minister said that in the past, various people including politicians have been given names to schools while they were still alive.

In the meantime, Mr. Premjayantha also said that steps will be taken to stop politicians from going to schools and making political speeches under the guise of giving aid.

After the imprisonment of Mr. Keheliya Rambookwella, there were requests from many people to remove the name of a school named after him.
