The Central Committee of the Ilankei Tamil Arusu Kachchi (ITAK) Party took the decision yesterday to nullify the election of the General Secretary due to multiple irregularities in the polling process. Following the election of MP S. Sreedharan, the party had initially aimed to appoint a General Secretary, resulting in the election of S. Kugadasan.
However, allegations of improper voting methods and various accusations highlighted a clear division between the northern and eastern groups within the party. The central working council faced disruptions, leading to an abrupt adjournment without a set date for the re-convening of the central committee or a new voting session.
