It is reported that the three armed forces have been called to hospitals on a request made by the Ministry of Health.
From 06.30 this morning, 72 trade unions except doctors in the health service started a symbolic strike for a period of 24 hours.
The trade unions are launching this action demanding that the allowance of 35,000 rupees given to the doctors be given to them as well and the health unions have also decided to carry out only essential activities.
However, it is said that this morning, Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana has also invited the striking trade unions to a discussion.
