Another earthquake has been reported in the Indian Ocean today (29) around 8 am.
Accordingly, the number of shocks that have occurred in that period is 4.
Ms Nilmini Taldena, the senior seismologist of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, said that the earthquake that occurred at 8 am today was recorded as 5 units on the Richter scale.
Earlier, 3 tremors were reported as 4.8, 5.2 and 5.8 on the Richter scale.
The Bureau of Geological Survey and Mines stated that there is no impact on Sri Lanka.
These earthquakes have been recorded near the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
It is also reported that these earthquakes have occurred in a mountain range at the bottom of the ocean.

Mrs. Nilmini Taldena, a senior official of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, said that two earthquakes were reported in the Indian Ocean this morning (29).
One earthquake was recorded as 4.8 on the Richter scale and the second as 5.8.
The Bureau of Geological Survey and Mines stated that there is no impact on Sri Lanka.
This earthquake was recorded near the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
