Due to the increase of VAT to 18%, the Minister of Trade is under great pressure! I Sri Lanka Latest News

Trade, Consumer and Food Safety Minister Mr. Naleen Fernando said that the increase in VAT on goods will put a lot of pressure on him. Sri Lanka Latest News

The Minister said this at the Mahapola Education and Trade Fair held at Ja-Ala Public Stadium.

“When the VAT increases by 18%, he said that there is a lot of pressure on him from the customer’s side. However, due to the critical stage the country is in at this time, the government’s income is more valuable than anything else.

However, the minister said that as soon as the middlemen hear about a tax increase, they will increase the price of goods in a big way and said that the Consumer Authority and the Ministry of Trade will intervene in this matter in the next few weeks.
