The Court of Appeal today dismissed Kayleigh Fraser’s writ application challenging her deportation order for participating in anti-government protests in Sri Lanka.

Fraser filed a writ application with the Court of Appeal on Friday (12) challenging a decision to deport her from Sri Lanka.

Respondents in the application included the Controller General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration and the Attorney General.

Fraser claims in her petition that the Department of Immigration and Emigration made an arbitrary decision to cancel her VISA because she was involved in the Galle Face anti-government protests.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration announced that it had decided to cancel Fraser’s visa because she had posted protest-related content on social media.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration had informed her in writing that she needed to leave Sri Lanka by August 15th.

Kayleigh Fraser, on the other hand, asked the Court of Appeal to rule that the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s decision was unjust.

The application was taken up in the presence of Justice Sobitha Rajakaruna, and it was dismissed on the grounds that the petitioner had failed to produce sufficient facts for the application to be taken up for examination.

The request to issue notice on the respondents was also turned down by the Court of Appeal.
