Election monitoring organisations have decided to file a lawsuit against the Finance Minister for failing to release funds allocated in the budget for local government elections.
Mr. Rohana Hettiarachchi, Executive Director of the PAFFREL Organization, stated that he will report the facts to the court through his lawyers in the coming days.
Mr. Manjula Gajanayake, Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Reforms and Election Studies, stated that the international community was informed about the failure to hold local government elections.
He stated that many political parties’ interest in conducting the election .
