Representing the United Nations Development Programme, a special meeting was held today between the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program Ms. Azusa Kubota and the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa at the opposition leader’s office in Colombo.
The leader of the opposition praised the measures taken by the United Nations Organization for the consolidation of democracy and also emphasized the need for the active intervention of the organization in order to ensure the sovereignty of the people through the conduct of the elections in this country.
