Contributes towards fulfilling the nutrition needs of over 600 children

Nestlé Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka, to offer assistance to five SOS Children’s Villages across the island. Touching the lives of over 600 children in Anuradhapura, Galle, Jaffna, Monaragala and Nuwara Eliya, the ‘Goof food, Good life’ company’s contribution would be channelled to meet their food and nutrition needs for six months, helping nourish them during this difficult time.

Sharing his thoughts on the partnership, Mr. Jason Avanceña, Managing Director of Nestlé Lanka said “At Nestlé, we are committed to doing our part to support communities through trying times, not just by continuing to deliver nutritious food and beverages but also by increasing our support towards those in most need. Although the impact of today’s challenges is felt by everyone from all walks of life, there are some more vulnerable than others, such as children. This is why we are proud to extend our assistance to SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka – an institution working tirelessly to care for our country’s future generation. We are glad to partner this esteemed organization in their efforts of raising healthier children, in our journey of giving back to Sri Lanka.”

“SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka is happy to have Nestlé Lanka on board as a corporate partner. I sincerely appreciate the efforts made by all our corporate partners, such as Nestlé Lanka, to brighten the lives of our children at SOS Children’s Villages during this difficult time. I look forward to working together with Nestlé Lanka for a long-lasting partnership, towards contributing positively to society by providing a happy and healthy childhood for children of today, who are the generation of tomorrow” said Mr. Divakar Ratnadurai, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka.

Driven by its purpose of ‘unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come’, Nestlé has nourished generations of Sri Lankan families with high quality food and beverages from early childhood to old age. Having started its operations in Sri Lanka in 1906, today, Nestlé has become an integral part of Sri Lankan lives and contributes to the livelihoods of more than 25,000 Sri Lankan dairy and coconut farmers and out growers and provides direct employment to over 800. The company manufacture over 90% of its products sold in Sri Lanka locally at their state-of-the-art factory in Kurunegala, employing strict safety and quality controls.
