Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has told the officials to start looking into how MP quarters were used wrong away.
The speaker mentioned that there have been constant complaints from various quarters that certain quarters in the Madivela councilor housing complex have been misused.
Accordingly, it is reported that several complaints have been received that former MPs who are not currently representing the Parliament have been staying in some MPs’ houses for a long time, and some complaints have stated that staff members and security personnel are also staying in some quarters reserved for MPs.
The Speaker says that he has instructed the responsible officers to take note of such complaints and promptly investigate and report them.
900 sq. ft. MP quarters with 03 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, staff toilet and parking space.
The Madivela Parliamentary Housing Complex consists of 120 housing units which are provided on rental basis.
